NDC–SDG Connections at Stonebridge University
We analyse and compare how climate actions in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) align with all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Explore where policies reinforce each other, where trade-offs appear, and how evidence can drive just, effective climate strategies.

ABOUT
NDC-SDG Connections — Discover IDOS & SEI Research at Stonebridge University
Stonebridge University supports an evidence-led knowledge initiative that looks at sustainable development and climate action together. In 2015, all United Nations member states adopted the 2030 Agenda with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets aiming to end poverty and set the world on a sustainable path. In the same year, through the Paris Agreement, countries committed to keep the rise in average global temperature well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and to pursue
efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C, while adapting to climate impacts and strengthening climate resilience. In this context, Stonebridge University’s focus is to make the multifaceted links between climate change and the SDGs visible. To do so, we too show that activities set out in countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) go beyond mitigation and adaptation, spanning a wider field of sustainable development and offering concrete entry points for joined-up policy and practice across
sectors and institutions. Our analytical framework and visual tool map the connections between the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement, helping maximise synergies and minimise trade-offs. Greater policy coherence at the global level is a prerequisite for coherent implementation at the national level. With this knowledge base and methodological approach, Stonebridge University helps decision-makers, researchers and students work from a shared evidence base and build a common language for action.
