Course
Summary

With our BSc (Hons) Computing (Top-up) programme, you can get a solid grounding in advanced computing principles and practices as well as the technical knowledge, portfolio, and experience to kickstart your career in the IT industry.

The global technology market is highly competitive, so companies always try new innovations and change their digital strategies to stand out.

As a result, there is a significant need for recent graduates who can demonstrate practical knowledge of software engineering, human-computer interaction, and requirements management.

The goal of this University of Greenwich Top-up degree is to help students become self-reliant, creative technical problem solvers who can thrive in a dynamic and competitive corporate environment.

Equivalent to the final year of a university degree, this Level 6 qualification is a globally accepted higher education credential, offering pathways to master's level study and senior workforce roles.

This Top-Up degree is specifically designed for students who have completed the NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing (L5DC), an HND or an equivalent qualification. It offers a seamless pathway to a full honours degree without the need to start from scratch. Delivered online, the course allows you to balance your studies with work commitments.

By focusing on critical areas like mobile application development and enterprise web software, the course ensures graduates are well-prepared for the evolving demands of the modern digital economy.

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Top-up) offers two distinct pathways at Level 6, each totaling 120 credits and designed to accommodate different professional specializations. Option Set 1 distinguishes itself through an intensive focus on autonomous research and technical execution, allocating 60 credits—half of the total degree weighting—to a comprehensive Final Project. This capstone requirement is complemented by four specialized 15-credit modules: Human Computer Interaction and Design, Requirements Management, Mobile Application Design & Development, and Enterprise Web Software Development.

Alternatively, Option Set 2 retains the core technical foundation of three mandatory modules—Requirements Management, Mobile Application Design & Development, and Enterprise Web Software Development—while introducing greater academic flexibility. In place of the interaction design unit, students select two 15-credit elective courses from separate, curated academic clusters containing five and six specialized subjects respectively. This structure allows candidates to tailor their Honours year to specific career trajectories while maintaining the rigorous standards of the computing discipline.
